# Velocity Scheduling System > Velocity Scheduling System (VSS) helps job shops and custom manufacturers cut lead times, increase throughput, and win more profitable work - without adding capacity or people. Developed by Dr. Lisa Lang, TOCICO Certified Expert. VSS is grounded in Theory of Constraints (TOC) and Drum-Buffer-Rope (DBR) scheduling methodology. Over 550 job shops have used VSS. VSS is a 14-week coaching program; most shops implement it using a visual scheduling system (no software required). iVSS is a custom software option available for qualifying companies with in-house IT resources. ## Product Pages - [Velocity Scheduling System Program](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/): The VSS coaching program for job shop owners - cut lead times, increase throughput, win more work - [Production Scheduling](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/production-scheduling/): How VSS transforms production scheduling in custom manufacturing environments ## About Dr. Lisa Lang - [About](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/about/): Dr. Lisa Lang - TOCICO Certified Expert, developer of the Velocity Scheduling System, background in Theory of Constraints - [Dr. Lisa Lang](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/blog/dr-lisa/): Full bio, credentials, and why Dr. Lang developed VSS - [The Story Behind VSS](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/the-story-behind-vss/): Origin story - how VSS was developed from real job shop experience ## Key Articles - Job Shop Scheduling - [Job Shop Scheduling Software: How to Evaluate It](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/blog/job-shop-scheduling-software/): What job shop owners need to look for (and avoid) in scheduling software - covers ERP limitations, DBR-based alternatives - [Flow-Based Scheduling](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/blog/flow-based-scheduling-flow-manufacturing/): How flow thinking reduces lead times in job shops - Obstacles to Flow, WIP reduction, Kingman's Formula explained - [Drum Buffer Rope Scheduling](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/blog/drum-buffer-rope/): Complete explanation of Drum-Buffer-Rope (DBR) - the TOC scheduling method for job shops and custom manufacturers - [Job Shop Scheduling Problems](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/blog/job-shop-scheduling-problems/): Common scheduling failures in job shops and why standard approaches make them worse - [Increase Job Shop Productivity](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/blog/increase-job-shop-productivity-now/): Practical steps to increase throughput without adding capacity - [Velocity Scheduling System Board Examples](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/blog/velocity-scheduling-system-board-examples/): Visual examples of VSS production boards in use at real job shops ## Key Articles - Theory of Constraints - [The Goal Book by Eliyahu Goldratt](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/blog/the-goal-book-eliyahu-goldratt/): Summary, key concepts, and how The Goal applies to modern job shops - Goldratt's novel that introduced TOC - [Dr. Lisa and Theory of Constraints](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/blog/dr-lisa-and-theory-of-constraints/): How TOC principles underpin VSS - [Theory of Constraints Manufacturing](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/blog/theory-of-constraints-manufacturing/): Applying TOC in custom manufacturing - the gap between reading The Goal and using it - [Overcome Resistance to Change](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/blog/overcome-resistance-to-change-with-change-management/): Change management in manufacturing using the TOC Change Matrix ## Key Articles - AI and Manufacturing - [AI Shifts The Bottleneck: A TOC Perspective](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/blog/theory-of-constraints-ai/): Why AI in manufacturing must account for the constraint - applying TOC logic to AI implementation (Part 1) - [How To Leverage AI In Manufacturing Job Shops](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/blog/ai-manufacturing-job-shops/): Practical AI strategy for job shop owners - why 85-95% of AI projects fail and what to do instead (Part 2) - [Commanding AI in Your Job Shop](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/blog/commanding-ai-job-shop/): What it means to lead AI rather than be led by it - compounding intelligence in manufacturing ## Key Articles - Lean and Operations - [The Lean Job Shop Lie](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/blog/lean-job-shop-lie/): Why lean manufacturing fails in high-mix, low-volume job shops - and what works instead - [5 Strategies for Growing as a Domestic Manufacturer](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/blog/5-strategies-for-growing-as-a-domestic-manufacturer/): How US job shops compete against offshore manufacturing ## Case Studies - [VSS Case Studies](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/blog/velocity-scheduling-system-case-studies/): Real results from job shops using VSS - lead time reduction, throughput improvement, on-time delivery ## Lead Magnets and Resources - [Free eBook](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/ebook/): Free resource for job shop owners on scheduling and throughput - [Free Webinar](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/webinar/): Live and recorded webinars on VSS methodology ## Contact - [Contact / Strategy Session](https://www.velocityschedulingsystem.com/contact/): Schedule a strategy session with Dr. Lisa Lang
