Dr Lisa,
Thanks for the special report. We do suffer from many of those issues. Some to a greater degree than others. I really related to the constraint moving and I’m looking forward to the next video and to how we can improve our shop. Please keep the information coming!!
Thanks,
Bob
THANK YOU FOR A VERY ACCURATE DEPICTION OF SCHEDULING IN A MACHINE SHOP. YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD, I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO FUTURE ARTICLES AND SOLUTIONS.
AFTER READING THE ARTICLE IT FELT LIKE LOOKING IN MY SHOP.
IVE BEEN IN THE TRADE FOR 60 YEARS OWNED MY OWN SHOP FOR 40
YEARS GUESS WHAT ,YOU GET IN A RUT AND THE GROOVE KEEPS GETTING
DEEPER. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FUTURE ARTICLES MIKE
So far so good…
Dr. Lisa,
I’ve read Your article. I think it great for mass manufacturers indeed. I am actually working in company, which manufacture individual goods. We were trying to use TOC on our problem solving, but it didn’t work out. It seems, that TOC is not used to individual manufacturing. So VVS as well.
Dear Rytis,
Our Velocity Scheduling System Coaching Program was developed for highly complex higly custom shops. It was NOT designed for mass production. If you have mass production, off the shelf TOC (Drum Buffer Rope or Simplified Drum Buffer Rope) will work fine. If you are a true job shop — then you need Velocity Scheduling System.
You should consider signing up for your next session. There is a 100% money back guarantee. The only thing you have to lose besides your time is the chaos, the long lead-times through your shop, and the poor due date performance.
But, ONLY sign up if you’re willing to do as I suggest.
Good luck with whatever you decide!
Dr Lisa
Dr Lisa,
I’ve just read your e-book, “The 9 Biggest Challenges to Scheduling YOUR Machine Shop and Why Most Schedules are Dead on Arrival!”, and your and Brad’s work with VSS. The descriptions of the 9 challenges are spot-on. As a consultant, I can confirm that most, if not all, job-shops suffer from these challenges on an unpredictable basis.
Keep up the good work.
Here’s some other questions for you to ponder.
Question #1: What’s your biggest fear or frustration with scheduling?
Question #2: What have you tried so far that hasn’t worked for you?
Question #3: What worries you-what are you afraid will happen if you don’t improve your scheduling soon?
Question #4: What would it look like if your scheduling were perfect? What would you be willing to do to get there?
Question #5: If you could have one question answered about scheduling your shop what would it be?
